I became a Coach as I believe that my life experiences, even the painful ones can be a guiding light for others. If there is one truth I hold onto, it’s that no matter how dark the night, the sun will always rise again. I am a mom who has endured the unimaginable loss of my two daughters, Jess in 2008 and Georgie in 2019, to cancer. The lessons I have gained through this heartbreaking journey shape my coaching approach, which in turn inspires my clients to tap into their inner strength and navigate challenges with resilience in their own unique way.
My unexpected journey of loss, love and life has led me to the ocean where I draw inspiration from the rhythm of nature and the joy of new experiences. I believe that learning and growing are essential to living an authentic and meaningful life.
Professionally, I began my career as a Management Consultant in the Retail and Financial Services sectors, spending 15 years immersed in challenging and rewarding projects. Seeking greater work-life balance I then spent over a decade running my own small business.
My coaching journey began when I enrolled to become a Certified Ontological Coach and I haven’t looked back. I have also trained in the “Time to Think’ approach and have qualified as an ICF (International Coaching Federation) Accredited Coach.
In addition to my coaching services, I am a TRE® (Tension and Trauma Release) Practitioner as the nervous system plays a crucial role in dealing with adversity and growth. Using TRE, either as a standalone modality or alongside coaching, has a profound impact.
My special interest lies in grief – or rather, grief relief – and how the body’s innate wisdom plays a vital role in navigating life on the other side of loss.
Having a meaningful life has been strongly influenced by the causes that I support and the sense of community and connection that these causes bring. I believe that part of being human is caring and being compassionate towards others and continuing to look beyond ourselves for ways to be of service to others.
After Jess passed away in February 2008, I found myself drawn to helping families facing a similar predicament as my own. In our country, most of the families affected by childhood cancer don’t have the financial means or emotional support to face the long treatment journey alone. This is where CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa) steps in to support families faced with the diagnosis of childhood cancer. I decided to ride the 947 Cycle Challenge that year to fundraise for CHOC, this led to Grant and I co-founding The Cows with an amazing group of friends and together we have raised more than R50 million for CHOC. The motto of The Cows – ‘Love Living Life’ – has inspired me and many others to keep making a difference to the lives of children with cancer and their families.
